Overview
It is a multimedia container file format which is used over the internet to provide digital video content to the users. Digital video content includes TV shows or series, movies; etc. Adobe Flash Player 6 and new versions provide support to it. To play flash video from Personal Computer and online websites we need an FLV player. Although, Apple iOS does not support Flash, yet, with the help of additional software, one can play flash videos. Also, it is a common platform for various websites that allows video streaming such as YouTube, Yahoo! Video, Metacafe, Hulu; etc . With the help of screen capturing and other recording programs, screen recording is possible for flash videos. Furthermore, it also supports a screen share or screen cast.
Technical description
FLV files mostly have video bitstreams which are one of the variants of H.263 Standard and it is named as Sorenson park(FourCC FLV1). The SWF files and this extension uses the identical way to encode data. There are two variants available for screen casting. First one is lossy as it reduces colour depth or bit depth (number of bits used to indicate the colour of one pixel) and compresses the data. The second type is only compatible with Flash Player 8 and the newer versions. Both these aforesaid kinds are based on bitmap tile. Uncompressed Audio or ADPCM format audio is also supported by it. This format has header and packets in its video structure. A standard header includes signature, version, flags and header size.

Overview
MPG/MPEG is a file extension that uses MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 codecs for video and audio files. The lossy compression in this format leads to enhancement of the streaming and downloading speed. That is why it is very popular and widely accepted for movies. This format is compatible with both Mac/Macintosh and Windows including some other portable devices. The files that are encoded using this codec provide compressed data that has small size but the quality is not sacrificed at all. It just deletes or neglects the superfluous information that can not be noticed by the human ear. This lossy encoding takes less storage space to store data. Although this format is not efficient enough to provide excellent quality, yet, it is used most of the times due to its higher level of compatibility.
Technical description
The compressed ratio in digital video files under this format is 26:1 and for audio files it is 6:1.The bit rate in MPEG-1 is about 1.5 million bits per second and it is used to compress CD data., Besides this, MPEG-2 is designed especially for digital TV broadcast and DVD as it uses a bit rate above 4 million bits per second to compress both audios and videos. It should be noted that due to backwards compatibility with MPEG-1, video decoders have the ability to play a lower bit rate. It produces high quality of compressed files. Other uses of MPEG-2 is for Cable network, satellite and television stations; etc. Furthermore, it supports 5.1 multichannel audio.
